And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt……”

Numbers 14:11New Living Translation (NLT)

11 And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?

The above scripture is the first verse I read in the Bible that made me really FEEL for God. Up until then I had never felt any emotion for Him. I knew that I am supposed to love God but I thought maybe praying to Him, reading His Word, and obeying His Word was loving Him. While loving Him does encompass all of those things, I realized that that’s not the only way to love God; I could actually FEEL love for Him. I got so emotional and cried when I read this verse… once I realized I was feeling an actual emotion for God, I went from crying to smiling to amazement because I never thought I could feel for Him.  I had read the preceding chapters– Genesis, Exodus, and Leviticus; so by this time I felt like I had gotten to know the Lord. In getting to know Him, I realized that when He said, “Let Us make man in Our own image” (Genesis 1:26), He was not only talking about physical image like I had always thought He meant (male, female, body, etc.); He was also talking about in His image as we are beings with feelings just like Him. The same way we feel happy, sad, hurt, angry, and any other emotion is the same way God feels. Yes, He FEELS. He even says in His Word that He is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14). And the Word also says that at one point, He was so angry with man that He REGRETTED creating us! (Genesis 6:6)

During the time of this verse, God had been using Moses to deliver His people, the Israelites, out of slavery in Egypt. He used Moses in a special way… He used Moses to perform miracles in front of the people so that they would believe in Him, trust Him, and give Him glory. These people had witnessed God’s miracles with their own eyes time after time and it still was never enough. It seemed nothing could make them happy. God delivered them from the hands of the Egyptians… He performed miracles….. he provided them with food and drink on their long journey into the Land that He promised they would inherit. But still they complained and they also sinned against God. So in this verse, the Lord is asking Moses how long are they going to keep trying me?? Why won’t they just listen?? When I read this, I felt sadness from the Lord. Knowing Him (I can say that now because I do), I am sure that He was angry but I felt more hurt coming from Him than anything. I thought about how He had done so much for His people yet they could not turn from their sinful ways; nor would they stop complaining.

Reminds me of us today…. God has worked in our lives in different ways to prove Himself to us (not that He has anything to prove); but I believe He proves Himself for us to continue to trust in Him and also so that we know it is HIM. He has proven Himself to be faithful…. forgiving…. loving…. miraculous…. redeeming… freeing (feel free to add to this)

And even then, we still wonder….  we still doubt… we still question…

We still turn away from Him when things are going wrong

But, I wonder what would happen if we decide….. to just trust that He knows what He’s doing?

The world inspire us to be “bad bitches”… and “boss bitches” ~ the Word of God calls us to be VIRTUOUS WOMEN

The world makes us think that it is cute to be loud; and to swear & cuss   the WORD of God says that as  virtuous women we only open our mouths to speak wisdom with kindness on our tongues. (Proverbs 31:26)

The world tells us when someone does us wrong, we need to hold it against them… hold a grudge….. and throw it in their face every single chance we get ~ the WORD of God says that we are to forgive others just as Christ forgives us (Ephesians 4:32)

The world tells you that money is the answer to all your problems the WORD of God says that the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10)

The world makes us believe that it is okay to sleep around… Jumping from bed to bed, sharing our bodies ~ But the Word of God says do you not know that your body is a temple in which the Holy Spirit dwells? With every other sin it is outside of the  body but when we fornicate we sin against our own body  (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)

The world has us seeking popularity… trying to be liked, loved, and admired by all  but the WORD of God says to be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God (James 4:4)

The world says it’s okay to allow a man to lay up in your home all day while you go to work. Then gotta come home and cook him dinnerthe Word says that a man who does not WORK does not EAT (Thessalonians 3:10)

The world tells us to get revenge on all those who have hurt you… “Lets do to them what they did to US! Let us hurt them because they hurt us”   But the WORD of God says that vengeance is the Lord’s (Romans 12:19)

The world can keep you down…. Make you feel like you are nobody… You cannot be anybody… And you cannot accomplish anything. And then you don’t because you think you can’t ~ but the WORD of God says that I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me  (Philippians 4:3)

The world can lead you to believe that satan actually cares for you…. because when you play his game you sometimes get what you want. And it feels good for a moment  the WORD of God says that satan comes ONLY to steal, kill, and to destroy (John 10:10)

The world can break you if you let it…. depress you, stress you….. Make you feel like your troubles are taking you out  the WORD of God says that we should count it all joy when we go through; for it is our trials that teach us endurance   (James 1:2-4)

The world teaches us to aspire for big houses, expensive cars, worldly and materialistics things  the WORD of God says we are to seek God and His righteousness above ALL ELSE and everything will be added to us (Matthew 6:33)

The world tells us, “Girl, get you a man with a big house and some money” so that he can take care of you  the WORD of God says that we should have our own (Proverbs 14:1)

The world tells us the more make up and jewelry we wear, the more beautiful our appearance  the WORD of God says that we are not to be so concerned with outward beauty such as hairstyles, expensive jewelry or beautiful clothes…. but to focus on the beauty which never fades and this is the beauty that comes from within.  (1 Peter 3:3)

The world makes us think love is supposed to hurt.  “He hurt me because he loves me”∼  the WORD of God says that love is kind. Love is not easily provoked nor is it evil. The word of God says that love is patient.  Love does not boast or brag. Love bears & endures all things; Love does not fail (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

The world lets us think we can hate each other… fight each other…. talk down on each other…. yet claim that we love God  The WORD of God says how we can love Him that we cannot see but can’t even love those that we can see?? (1 John 4:20)

The world will tell you that you can never change… The world reminds you of your past to discourage you. To make you believe that you still are what you were & can never be anything more  the WORD of God says that in Christ you are made NEW…..  you are a new creation & old things have passed. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

We Like To Blame Our Crying Eyes………..

We like to blame our crying eyes & sleepless nights on the MAN who wronged us,
Who told us he loved us,
Who showed no worthiness… Yet, we LET him inside of us.

What if I told you that you were breaking your OWN heart?
And that YOU actually hold all the power right from the start?

Yet you relinquish it when you agree to do things his way?
Instead of waiting for the real thing you settle for “ROLE PLAY”.

Playing the ROLE of his woman… The ROLE of his wife,
Yet you are just ONE of the MANY women in his life,

Waiting in line for a TITLE, the chance to be called “his”,
MEANWHILE, you cook for him, clean for him, & even take in his kids.

I’ve been there before so I can relate to the pain,
But, I’ve learned from my mistakes and I REFUSE to go back there again.
No need to live in regret because what’s done is already done,
But moving forward you are smarter, much wiser now… you are NOT the ONE!!
NOT the one he can LAY UP with, NOT the one he continues to hurt,
NOT the one to be played with… because now you know your WORTH!
Now, you refuse to settle for less than what you know you deserve!
Why? Because you’ve began studying the 31st chapter in the
BOOK OF PROVERBS ♥
