Women… What Does The WORD say vs. What The World Says?

The world tells us, “If you got it… FLAUNT IT!”  the WORD of God says that a woman should be modest in dress (1 Timothy 2:9)

The world tells us to wait at least five dates or 90 days before making love to a man the WORD of God says to wait until he is our HUSBAND (1 Corinthians 6:18-20; 2 Corinthians 7:1-2)

The world says don’t be too nice. Instead of walking around with a smile on your face, walk around with a frown because it’s “sexy”….. and you don’t want to be too nice because “kindness is a sign of weakness”  the WORD of God commands us to be kind one to another; for kindness is a fruit of the Spirit;  (Ephesians 4:32; Galatians 5:22)

The world says hate your enemies ~ the WORD of God says we are to love them and pray for them (Matthew 5:44)

The world tells you that you need to be a certain size, shape, and complexion; and your hair has to be a certain length to be beautiful  the WORD of God says EVERYTHING He made beautiful! (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

The world inspire us to be “bad bitches”… and “boss bitches” ~ the Word of God calls us to be VIRTUOUS WOMEN

The world makes us think that it is cute to be loud; and to swear & cuss   the WORD of God says that as  virtuous women we only open our mouths to speak wisdom with kindness on our tongues. (Proverbs 31:26)

The world tells us when someone does us wrong, we need to hold it against them… hold a grudge….. and throw it in their face every single chance we get ~ the WORD of God says that we are to forgive others just as Christ forgives us (Ephesians 4:32)

The world tells you that money is the answer to all your problems the WORD of God says that the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10)

The world makes us believe that it is okay to sleep around… Jumping from bed to bed, sharing our bodies ~ But the Word of God says do you not know that your body is a temple in which the Holy Spirit dwells? With every other sin it is outside of the  body but when we fornicate we sin against our own body  (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)

The world has us seeking popularity… trying to be liked, loved, and admired by all  but the WORD of God says to be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God (James 4:4)

The world says it’s okay to allow a man to lay up in your home all day while you go to work. Then gotta come home and cook him dinnerthe Word says that a man who does not WORK does not EAT (Thessalonians 3:10)

The world says that the teachings of the Bible does not apply today because we are in the 21st Century ~ 1 Peter 1:25 says that the Word of God endures forever (1 Peter 1:25)

The world tells us to get revenge on all those who have hurt you… “Lets do to them what they did to US! Let us hurt them because they hurt us”   But the WORD of God says that vengeance is the Lord’s (Romans 12:19)

The world can keep you down…. Make you feel like you are nobody… You cannot be anybody… And you cannot accomplish anything. And then you don’t because you think you can’t ~ but the WORD of God says that I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me  (Philippians 4:3)

The world can lead you to believe that satan actually cares for you…. because when you play his game you sometimes get what you want. And it feels good for a moment  the WORD of God says that satan comes ONLY to steal, kill, and to destroy (John 10:10)

The world can break you if you let it…. depress you, stress you….. Make you feel like your troubles are taking you out  the WORD of God says that we should count it all joy when we go through; for it is our trials that teach us endurance   (James 1:2-4)

The world teaches us to aspire for big houses, expensive cars, worldly and materialistics things  the WORD of God says we are to seek God and His righteousness above ALL ELSE and everything will be added to us (Matthew 6:33)

The world tells us, “Girl, get you a man with a big house and some money” so that he can take care of you  the WORD of God says that we should have our own (Proverbs 14:1)

The world tells us the more make up and jewelry we wear, the more beautiful our appearance  the WORD of God says that we are not to be so concerned with outward beauty such as hairstyles, expensive jewelry or beautiful clothes…. but to focus on the beauty which never fades and this is the beauty that comes from within.  (1 Peter 3:3)

The world makes us think love is supposed to hurt.  “He hurt me because he loves me”∼  the WORD of God says that love is kind. Love is not easily provoked nor is it evil. The word of God says that love is patient.  Love does not boast or brag. Love bears & endures all things; Love does not fail (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

The world lets us think we can hate each other… fight each other…. talk down on each other…. yet claim that we love God  The WORD of God says how we can love Him that we cannot see but can’t even love those that we can see?? (1 John 4:20)

The world will tell you that you can never change… The world reminds you of your past to discourage you. To make you believe that you still are what you were & can never be anything more  the WORD of God says that in Christ you are made NEW…..  you are a new creation & old things have passed. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

A Conversation With God

I wrote this about 10 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter and I just came across it while going through some of my old things. I was in a bible study and the teacher gave us a poem where the writer had questions for God; our assignment was to write something similar. It is very short and I didn’t think much of it while I was writing if I was even thinking at all; in my mind I was just completing an assignment. I remember finishing it in about 10 minutes because I did not put any effort into at all. I didn’t know why I was writing this conversation; it wasn’t like it had actually happened. Now that I look back, I realize now that maybe I was asking for something and didn’t know I was. But God knew. At the time of writing this I was 19 years old and pregnant, alone, and living in a youth shelter. I did not think much of myself but I am so thankful that God did. Now that I look back on what has happened in my life in the past 10 years since writing this, He has truly been amazing… I will never be able to put it into words.

A Conversation With God

I asked God if He loves me & He said, ” Yes”

I asked God if my mother was still around and He said ” Sssh, listen”… and I heard her voice…

I asked God for a chance and He gave me a new life…

I looked in my refrigerator and it was bare. I asked God for something to eat. He told me to close the refrigerator and open it again. I did as He said and when I opened it, there was enough food to last me for months…

I asked God for a dollar and He gave me fifty. I asked God, “Am I worthy of this?” and He gave me fifty more…

I asked God for guidance and He handed me the Bible…

I asked God, ” Who can help me better myself? Who can help me become a better daughter, a more considerate sister, a more loving niece, a more giving aunt, a kinder cousin, & a more compassionate friend? Who can help me become a heaven-approving mother?” He handed me a mirror.

From The First Day We Met (My experience with love at first sight)

I remember the first day we met.

I looked at you, you looked at me… and I knew I would love you forever.

It was shaky in the beginning. I had to get used to you.

I had never had anyone like you in my life prior to our meeting.

You are so different

You always make me feel special, so appreciated, so loved.

You keep me laughing through my tears & inspire me to be brave and face my fears.

You love me when I yell and scream… you love me when I fail….

You love me even when I am not my best self… you love me when my hair is not done…. you love me when I’m first waking up with morning breath.

This journey with you has not been easy; but I would not trade it for anything.

Every time you smile at me, my heart melts. You wouldn’t know this but I sometimes watch you while you sleep. It tickles me to see you smiling in your sleep. I wonder if you are dreaming about me.

I watch you and I thank God everyday for blessing my life with your presence.

There is nothing I love more than you but He who created us.

Kyelia, Mommy has loved you from the very first day we met.

I love you even more today, and my love for you will be much, much stronger tomorrow

Love, Mommy
